Muratec USA’s Machine Tools Division delivers high-speed, high-precision solutions in turning, sheet metal fabrication, and automated handling systems, all powered by advanced control technology.

The division’s legacy of innovation includes the establishment of Murata Warner Swasey Co., Ltd. (MWS) in 1970, a joint venture with Warner & Swasey Co., U.S.A., which began manufacturing automatic lathes and NC turret punch presses. MWS played a pivotal role in advancing CNC technology in sheet metal fabrication, laying the foundation for Muratec’s ongoing leadership in automated manufacturing solutions.

In May 1974, Murata Machinery Ltd. established Murata of America, Inc. in Charlotte, NC, initially focusing on textile machinery. In October 1989, it acquired the Wiedemann Division from the Warner & Swasey Company, creating Murata Wiedemann, Inc. The unified brand “Muratec” was introduced in October 1991.

Muratec USA’s turning business unit delivers high-performance CNC turning centers with integrated gantry automation, offering manufacturers reliable, hands-free solutions that boost precision and productivity.

Muratec USA’s fabrication business unit provides advanced turret punch presses and hybrid laser machines with integrated automation, combining the engineering legacy of Wiedemann with Muratec innovation to enhance flexibility, accuracy, and throughput in sheet metal manufacturing.
